A Bit About Me

Born in Alliston and a resident of Barrie for the past 21 years, Dave brings decades of playing and coaching experience to hockey development in Simcoe County and the surrounding area.

Dave played his minor hockey in Beeton before advancing to Junior C in Schomberg. His passion for the game transitioned naturally into coaching, where he has been actively involved since 1988. Since 2005, he has served as both Head Coach and Assistant Coach within the Barrie Minor Hockey Association (BMHA). Notably, he was Assistant Coach of the BMHA Minor Midget AA OMHA Championship team in 2016.

Dave also spent six seasons coaching Barrie AAA, working with high-performance athletes in elite hockey environments. Over the years, he has coached several AAA Spring hockey teams across multiple age groups, with many of his players advancing to compete in the OHL, AHL, and NHL.

In addition to ice hockey, Dave has been highly active in competitive ball hockey, coaching at both the provincial and national levels across Canada. His accomplishments include:

  • Head Coach – OBHA Provincial Gold Medal Champions (3x)

  • Assistant Coach – OBHA Provincial Gold Medal Champions (5x)

  • Assistant Coach – OBHF Provincial Gold Medal Champions (7x)

  • Assistant Coach – OBHF National Gold Medal Champions

Dave continues to lead hockey player development programs in Barrie and across Simcoe County, focusing on skill progression, hockey IQ, and team systems. He also serves as a scout-recruiter for Hockey Force International (HFI), identifying and mentoring athletes pursuing higher levels of competition.

Most recently, Dave served as Assistant Coach with the Orillia Terriers and Head Coach of the Innisfil Spartans Jr. C, further strengthening his impact within the local junior hockey community.
